The project for the University’s strategic replacement of the Coleraine Campus High Voltage Infrastructure and associated main LV switchboards is on schedule. Works are now been carried out and will continue throughout 2010 until mid 2011 with a total contract value in the region of £2.5M.
The programme, to replace the HV infrastructure installed in the late 1960’s and early 1970s includes the relocation of the main NIE High Voltage Intake Sub-station and construction of several new substations around the Campus. It also involves the re-routing of all associated HV and LV below ground cabling and all associated switchgear, commissioning, documentation and training of the University personnel.
In the past year, Semple & McKillop have completed HV substation upgrades at the Coleraine and Jordanstown Campuses to include the replacement of all associated LV mains supplies. These projects are a few of a number completed or underway for the University of Ulster.
